Alpha

All Alphas: Shapeshifter, Vampire, Werewolf, Skinwalker, Djinn, Khan Worm, Jefferson Starship. All, but the Vampire Alpha are dead.

Alphas are the progenitors (or sources) of a certain line of supernatural beings, aka "the original monster(s)." Eve, the Mother of All, is the creator of each line of monster. To create a certain line, she creates a type of infection that changes a human being into that type of monster. She also therefore changes the human's soul causing it to go to Purgatory upon death, rather than Heaven or Hell.

Amazons

After their ranks were devastated in a long war, the Amazon warrior tribe made a deal with the goddess Harmonia. She gave them supernatural strength and the ability to reproduce rapidly. The Amazon women gave birth to a child 36 hours after conceiving it, and the children matured rapidly, reaching adolescence within 3 days. Each girl then had to ritually kill the man who had fathered her, removing his hands and feet and carving an Amazonian symbol on his chest. Every two years, women of childbearing age would repeat the cycle to increase the ranks. The children were trained by Amazonian elders as fighters, to be able to both endure and dispense pain. One of their rituals involved consuming the flesh of their dead father. They were also branded with the sign of the Amazons on the insides of their wrists.

Powers and Abilities: They possessed superhuman strength. They quickly age into their adulthood.

Weaknesses: Any type of weaponry.

Arachne

Arachne are humanoid monsters with spider-like abilities and attributes. Their poisonous bite can turn humans into arachne. Once turned, arachne can mate and produce offspring. Because of their rarity, there is little lore on them or on how to kill them.

Powers and Abilities: Are strong and invulnerable to gunshot or fire. Can spin a strong web in which they capture their victims. Can infect others with a bite so that they turn into arachne themselves. Can mate and reproduce with each other.

Weaknesses: Decapitation - Cutting off an arachne's head is the only guaranteed way to kill it. The Colt (assumption)

Buruburu

Buruburu are ghosts born of a person's fear after dying in a terrifying manner. They can then infect others with their fear, and this infection is known as the ghost sickness. The people they infect are usually people who have made a habit of terrorizing others. Because it is a type of ghost, it has all the same abilities and weaknesses as a ghost, but it differs in one notable way: it can be "scared to rest."

Powers and Abilities: All the attributes of ghosts. Spreads a ghost sickness which eventually causes the victim to die of heart failure.

Weaknesses: Corpse can be salted and burned. It can be "scared to rest."

Changeling

Changelings are humanoid creatures with discolored, slimy skin, hollow eyes, and a round mouth with many teeth. They can appear human, but their true nature is revealed in their reflection. They feed on humans' synovial fluid.

Powers and Abilities: Have superior strength. Have sharp teeth that allow them to feed on humans, and a lamprey-like mouth. Can appear human.

Weaknesses: Fire - Setting a changeling on fire will kill it. Family - Killing a mother changeling will cause its children to die instantly. Mirrors - A changeling's true form is revealed in a mirror. The Colt (assumption)

Crocatta

The true appearance of the crocotta is unknown. It can appear human but when it feeds, it unhinges its jaw and its large, sharp teeth are visible. It is commonly described in legend as luring people by calling their name, drawing them deeper into the forest until it can devour them. In the modern age, the crocotta has evolved to contact people by phone or computer.

Powers and Abilities: Can mimic the voice of any person, but they have to have heard their voice first. Extended lifespan - Able to live for centuries. Can manipulate technology. Drain the soul of the person they've killed or are going to kill. They can take on human form

Weaknesses: Stabbing in the back of the neck. The Colt (assumption)

Death

Death is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, referred to in the Book of Revelation as the Pale Horseman, he appears to be the eldest of the four, older than Famine, War and Pestilence. According to him, he is the only being in existence that will persist through the end of time. According to Death neither he nor God can remember which of them is older. Death also believes at the end of time, God himself will die, and he will then reap God.

Powers and Abilities: He can raise the dead and resurrect anyone he wants. He can manipulate the weather to whatever he chooses or wants it to be. Has extensive knowledge of the universe. Can practically do whatever he wants and go wherever he wants.

Weaknesses: He can be bound (as he was imprisoned for thousands of years beneath the Earth). Can be killed by his own scythe.

Djinn

Djinn are humanoid creatures with tattooed skin that prefer to live in large ruins with a lot of places to hide. They feed on human blood and can poison their victims with a touch. Their poison causes reality-altering hallucinations and can be used either to kill their victims quickly, or to leave victims in a coma-like state while the djinn feeds on their blood over a long period of time. Djinn are best classified as genies and are able to read a person's mind to learn their deepest desires; however, the djinn do not truly grant wishes like the genies of lore. Instead, they send their victims into a fantasy universe where they believe their wish has been granted while the djinn can drink their blood slowly over the course of days. Time passes slowly enough in the fantasy universe that the djinn's victims will feel as if they're living an entire lifetime before their physical bodies die. When djinn access their powers, either their eyes and hands glow blue, or their tattoos move and extend down their arms.

Powers and Abilities: Can poison others with a touch - Their poison causes hallucinations that the djinn can control. In large doses, it can cause death. Can read a person's mind to learn their deepest desires.

Weaknesses: Silver and lamb's blood - A silver knife dipped in lamb's blood can kill a djinn. The Colt (assumption). Extreme brain damage.

Dragons

Attracted to gold, dragons traditionally live in caves, but in an urban environment will seek out a dark secluded place like a sewer. They can fly, have talons, scales and bat-like wings when in their true form. However, they manifest themselves as humans when in small spaces. They can generate heat that can reach temperatures high enough to "flambé" humans and even melt metal with their touch. When engaged in combat in their human form, the heat they generate seems to be their primary weapon.

Powers and Abilities: They possess incredible physical strength. Dragons can easily overpower humans through sheer physical force. While in their true form, dragons have bat-like wings which they use to fly and capture prey. Dragons can move with incredible speed, able to suddenly appear, especially when flying. They can also generate intense heat from their hands.

Powers and Abilities: Eve has the power of levitation. Eve possesses humans when manifesting on Earth. As the creator of all monsters, Eve has the ability to create new breeds and strains of monsters through experimentation. Eve can turn humans into monsters with a touch. Eve knows how to hide herself from angels and also how to inhibit them from using their powers within a certain radius. Eve has a psychic connection to all monsters. This allows her to send them messages and compel them to do her bidding, even against their will. She in turn sees through the eyes of all monsters, hears what they hear, and knows what they know. When Crowley inserts an electric probe into her head after her death, a nearby restrained vampire reacts in agony, demonstrating that monsters are still psychically connected to her despite her demise. Eve can shapeshift instantaneously, similar to the Alpha Shapeshifter. Eve can move fast enough to achieve results similar to teleportation.

Weaknesses: Phoenix ashes is the only thing that can kill her.

Eve

Fairies

Fairies are supernatural creatures that all seem to have originated from a place called Avalon. Coming in a variety of forms and sizes, they can only be seen by those who have been to the fairy realm or those they allow to see them. According Marion, a fairy expert, there is a fairy leader called Oberon. When summoned by a spell, they can make deals with humans, oftentimes exchanging their services for a price, such as the right to all of the firstborn sons in an area. Fairies also appear to have great power.

Powers and Abilities: They use magic. They can create deals much like crossroads demons (Leprechaun). They can become invisible unless they want to be seen or that the person has been to their home world and came back. They can appear as humans, but their true forms can be seen if that person has traveled to their home world. Telekinesis (Leprechauns). Teleportation. Can tell if a person has a soul or not.(Leprechaun). Immortal. Superhuman strength (Leprechauns, Redcaps and Tinks). Flight (Tinks). Manipulate reality (Leprechauns & Gilda)

Famine has been weakened by advances in agriculture, and is wheelchair bound, so Lucifer has sent demons to serve his needs and strengthen him. Famine is himself insatiable, as he embodies hunger. Once Famine's strength is replenished, he will then be able to march across the lands with authority. Famine states that hunger not only comes from the body, but also from the soul; those who are "empty" inside, are unaffected by the Horseman's powers.

Powers and Abilities: Can consume both human and demons souls to replenish himself. He is immortal by default. Through his ring he can amplify his victim’s inner urges, cravings and desires, making them ravenous. Famine can perceive a person's soul and the wants it harbors by placing one hand on his or her chest.

Weaknesses: Although immune to Sam's powers, it can have a indirect impact on him. Removing his ring can make him powerless.

Fate (Atropos)

Atropos is one of the Fates, three sisters who ensure that each person meets the end that is predetermined for them. She has two sisters who are "bigger in every sense of the word." Her job was to ensure people met the fate assigned to them by God. Since Sam and Dean broke away from their own fates and stopped the Apocalypse, free will now rules over destiny, and she no longer works to ensure that fate is met.

Powers and Abilities: She is able to stop time, predict events, selectively manipulate the flow of time, which she uses to assist her in manipulating events to bring about people's deaths. Atropos is able to visit Heaven at will.

Weaknesses: Balthazar possesses a weapon which can kill her.

Ghosts

A ghost or spirit remains connected to the mortal realm because it is attached to it through unfinished business or an unwillingness to move on. They may, refuse to accompany the Reaper who is tasked to help them move on. Many have a desire for revenge against those who they perceive to have caused their deaths, or will target people like them.

Powers and Abilities: Varies; can include telekinesis and possession.

Weaknesses: Varies; one standard is the salting and burning of the ghost's physical remains.

Ghouls are creatures that traditionally feed on the the dead, though some have been known to feed on living humans. They can only be killed by decapitation or the destruction of their heads. They can shapeshift, appearing human by taking the form of the last person they ate. Ghouls are unaffected by silver or holy water.

Powers and Abilities: They can take on the form of the person they have fed on.

Weaknesses: Decapitation. Extreme head trauma.

The Golem was created in Vitsyebsk, Belarus following the Nazi occupation in World War II, by the rabbis of the Judah Initiative. The Golem was sent to destroy the camp where the Thule Society were carrying out terrible magical experiments on the Jewish people of Vitsyebsk under the direction of Commandant Eckhart. The Golem is taken by Rabbi Bass to America where he eventually bequeaths him to his grandson Aaron Bass.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman strength. Invulnerability. Endurance. Longevity.

Weaknesses: Can be rendered inanimate by removing the scroll from its mouth.

Hellhounds

Hellhounds are aggressive, violent dogs that can and do serve demons. They commonly appear to kill a person who has made a deal with a crossroads demon allowing the person's soul to be harvested by Hell. In the days proceeding the end of a person's time, they will appear to the victim in dreams. The person will also hallucinate, and be able to see the true face of demons when they are possessing humans. Their origin is unknown. Powers and Abilities: Superhuman strength, speed, agility and stamina. Shapeshifting. Possess vampire teeth. Possess wraith's spike. Infectious bite.

Weaknesses: Decapitation. Angelic powers.

Khan Worm

The Khan worm is a monster newly created by Eve after she is released from Purgatory. Although it looks like a cross between a simple slug and a centipede, it is a self-aware, intelligent parasite that can enter a person's ear and take control over their actions as well as access their memories. After it leaves its host's body, a black, gooey substance is deposited in the person's ear.

Powers and Abilities: Type 1: Can control their victims' actions and access their memories once it has entered their body through the ear. Increase the strength of the host bodies they possess. Can reanimate a host body's corpse if it has been killed. Type 2: Enters body through the mouth, increases need to remain hydrated. Increase the strength of the host bodies they possess.

Weaknesses: Type 1: Electrocution - A current of electricity can stun or kill a Khan Worm depending on its intensity and duration. Type 2:

Kitsune

Kitsunes are human like in appearance, when they are prepared to attack, their eyes will become fox-like and will sprout claws from their hands. Kitsunes specifically feed on pituitary glands, they can survive ON glands harvested from already dead bodies; but if they become ill, they will need to seek fresher sources.

Powers and Abilities: Can take on human form. They have claws for greater offense. Stronger than humans.

Weaknesses: Stabbing it in the heart will kill it.Starving to death if they don't eat pituitary glands.

Lamia

Based on the shadow it casts on the wall of a rectory, the lamia is a humanoid monster. It is strong and has large claws that it uses to tear open the chest cavities of its victims. It then feeds on its victims' hearts. It has a high-pitched, warbling scream. To kill a lamia, it needs to be stabbed with a silver knife that has been blessed by a priest. It can also be killed by covering it in a combination of rosemary and saltand then setting it on fire. They are usually only seen in Greece, but is killed in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It is possible that the silver, blessed knife doesn't work when they attempt it because the creature, like werewolves, have altered after the Apocalypse is averted.

Powers and Abilities: Superior strength. Large claws.

Weaknesses: Silver - Stabbing a lamia with a silver knife blessed by a priest can kill it.Rosemary, salt, and fire - Covering a lamia in rosemary and salt and then setting it on fire can kill it.

Leviathans

Leviathans, also called the Old Ones, were primordial creatures from the sea, that through evolution, became able to possess other creatures to survive on land. Leviathans pre-date the creation of humans and angels, as well as the soul itself. They would also pre-date any beings with souls, such as Alphas. They are therefore among the first creations of God. Death describes them as immensely powerful, hungry, clever and poisonous. Before God went on to create more creatures, however, He felt that the Leviathans threatened to consume and destroy everything "in God's Petri dish." For this reason, Death states that God created Purgatory and sealed the Leviathans inside to contain them and their hunger.

Powers and Abilities: Possession - Leviathans can possess any human they come into contact with in their fluid form. This person becomes their physical embodiment of sorts. These shells bleed black ectoplasmic looking blood when injured and can reshape their jaws to display long sharp teeth and a two-pronged tongue. Shapeshifting - Once a vessel is taken they can reshape it into any human form they touch. They require only a fragment of DNA to transform into a person; even lost hair will do. The creature possessing a little girl takes the form of a doctor by touching his arm. They can also absorb the memories of anyone whose form they take, much like a shapeshifter, but without requiring the person to remain alive. It is revealed that certain humans like Charlie Bradbury and Bruce Springsteen possess a certain "spark" that means they cannot be emulated as effectively. Super strength - They are shown to possess greatly enhanced strength; at their first meeting, they are able to hurl Dean and Bobby across a room with little effort. Healing/Endurance - Leviathans are extremely resilient, surviving multiple shotgun blasts with silver shot, including one to the head at point blank range. One also survived and reassembled itself after being crushed by a falling car. They can even re-attach their heads if decapitated. Can kill angels - Episode 7.21 Reading Is Fundamental shows that Leviathans can overpower angels easily. They are immune to an angel's power and can kill them by forcing their fists into the angel's stomach, causing the angel to then ooze black goo and die. Flight - In Purgatory Leviathans are able to fly through the air in the form of meteors of black ooze that crash into the ground and take on a humanoid form.

Weaknesses: Blood of the Fallen - The Leviathan tablet states that a Leviathan can be killed by a bone of a righteous mortal soaked in the blood of the fallen. There are three fallen whose blood is required; the first of these is a fallen angel (Castiel's blood qualifies). The other two fallen are the ruler of fallen humanity (meaning Crowley, the King of Hell) and a father of fallen beasts (an Alpha). Once this weapon is assembled, the Leviathan only needs to be given a fatal blow to be killed, but it can result in those nearby being pulled to Purgatory with the Leviathan soul. Borax - Leviathans are highly susceptible to materials that contain the chemical compound borax (sodium borate) such as household cleaning products. Contact with their skin results in an instant burning effect that can reduce them to charcoal-like husks if they are exposed to too much. It is suggested that they will eventually heal from the effects, however. Their leader, Dick Roman, may be less susceptible to the chemical. Beheading - Removing a Leviathan's head disables them temporarily. But unless the head is kept far away from the body it will re-attach itself. The combination of burning them with borax and then beheading them and separating the head and the body appears to be the only way to put them down indefinitely, assuming the head has no way of finding its way back to the body. Witchcraft - Leviathans show susceptibility to witchcraft. It can incapacitate them temporarily. Other Leviathans - Leviathans can be killed by another Leviathan eating them. A Leviathan can even eat itself, a process referred to as "bibbing." Rigid hierarchy - The Leviathans rely heavily on having one all-powerful leader to give them instructions and conduct their master plan. If he dies, they fall apart completely and revert to a state of disorganization.

Okami

A humanoid monster. They hunt and feed on humans and usually develop a preference for a certain type of human - for example, single, white females while they sleep. They are usually only seen in Japan, but is hunted in Billings, Montana.

Pestilence professes allegiance towards War and Famine, showing anger when he learned of their defeat. His ring, along with War, Famine and Death's form together as a key to Lucifer's Cage.

Powers and Abilities: He is immortal by default. Through his ring he can create/manipulate infestations, plagues, diseases and other sicknesses. Teleport wherever he chooses. Indestructible.

Weaknesses: Removing his ring will render him powerless.

Phoenix

Phoenixes are powerful beings who appear human. They possess the ability to incinerate things through touch and are immune to conventional methods of killing humans. They combust upon death and form a pile of ashes.

Powers and Abilities: Incineration by touch. Long lived and impervious to things that would kill a human (gunshot, hanging).

Weaknesses: Iron. Can be killed by the Colt.

Pishtaco

Pishtacos have a human appearance, their mouths hold a proboscis appendage with a sucker at the end, which is released during feeding.

Powers and Abilities: The more fat they consume, the stronger they will become.

Weaknesses: Silver. Cutting off their proboscis will kill them.

Rakshasa

Rakshasas are creatures from Hindu mythology and are very nasty. They eat human flesh, sleep on a bed of dead insects and are great at shapeshifting. A rakshasa cannot enter a house without first being invited. The one in Supernatural appeared as a clown at the fair who would follow children home, get the child to let them into the house and then eat the parents.

Powers and Abilities: Can shapeshift into anything they want to be. Invisibility. Superhuman strength. Heightened senses - Barry Papazian could hear Dean's entire conversation, despite being outside human hearing distance.

Weaknesses: Cannot enter a home without invitation.Killed by a knife of pure brass.

Rawhead

A rawhead is a type of boogeyman that lurks in basements and preys upon children. Rawheads are hairy, ragged-looking humanoids with leathery skin. Their hands and feet are clawed. Upon death, their bodies are rendered into mounds of gooey viscera.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman strength. Superhuman speed.

Reaper

Reapers are divine supernatural beings. They are responsible for escorting deceased souls to the afterlife, and they refuse -- or are unable -- to tell the deceased what awaits them, reapers allow the deceased to choose to accompany them, or to remain in the Veil as ghosts, which eventually leads to the spirit becoming a vengeful spirit.

Powers and Abilities: Have access to Heaven, Hell, Purgatory and the Veil. Invisible to humans unless the person is near death or in spirit/astral projection form. May also become visible at their own discretion to mortals. Able to stop time. Teleportation. Are experts at tracking down souls. Capable of altering human perception to make themselves appear any way they want. Possession. Telekinesis. Resurrection

Weaknesses: Vulnerable to Death's scythe. Can be bound using spells. Can be rendered powerless and vulnerable inside of a reaper trap. Can also be possessed by demons, although the only demon that was known to be capable of doing this was Azazel, who is more powerful than the average demon. Can be killed by an angel blade. Can be killed by the First Blade.

Rugaru

The rugaru is the result of a genetic mutation that, when expressed, causes the affected human to experience a murderous, cannibalistic hunger. Outwardly the rugaru can appear human for years, never knowing its true nature, but eventually it becomes consumed with a terrible hunger. During this time, it feeds on any meat it can get its hands on, until it finally gives in to the craving for human flesh. The rugaru will also demonstrate superhuman strength, and its bones will move under its skin. One bite of human flesh is all that's necessary for the rugaru to transform outwardly into a monster, at which point it can never appear or be human again. The only way to kill it is by setting it on fire, otherwise it will continue killing people to sate its hunger.

Powers and Abilities: Enhanced physical attributes - Strength and speed.

Weaknesses: Fire

Shapeshifters

Shapeshifters can change their form so as to appear as any person living, dead, or fictional. Unlike most monsters, shifters have appeared to have purely human drives that have ranged from jealously, greed and loneliness. It appears that not all the shapeshifters have the exact same abilities: some shift faster than others.

Powers and Abilities: Take on a living person’s physical appearance and access the thoughts of the person they are mimicking. Take on a deceased or fictional person's physical appearance, from pictures or from film. Have children by impregnating human women.

Weaknesses: Piercing the heart with silver. Iridiu. Decapitation. Can be identified by the retinal flares they give off on videos.Vamptonite - According to Edgar, the Leviathan additive has been engineered to kill shifters.

Sirens

A siren can change its shape to appear human. It may seem to be either male or female, depending on how it chooses to approach a victim. It can manipulate feelings of love, whether sexual or platonic, and causes its victims to kill someone they love. The siren's call is transmitted through saliva. It first charms its way through the victim's defenses by reading their mind and pretending to be the "perfect person" for the victim. It then infects them by fluid transfer. The infection leaves traces of oxytocin in the victim's blood - this is a love hormone that provokes feelings of euphoria. A siren's true face can be seen in a mirror. The only way to kill a siren is to stab it with a bronze dagger dipped into the blood of someone it has infected. The death of a siren releases its victims from its spell.

Powers and Abilities: Can take on human form. Can read minds. Can make humans fall under their spell by infecting them with its saliva.

Weaknesses: It's true face can be seen in a mirror.A bronze dagger dipped in the blood of someone under its spell.

Skinewalker

Skinwalkers are humans that can make a complete transformation into a canine. The particular breed of canine seems to vary depending on the person. They are similar to werewolves in that they can be killed with silver, they infect others with a bite, and they like to eat the hearts of their victims; however, their mutations are complete and are not limited by the phases of the moon. Like vampires and more notably, canines, they seem to have a pack mentality. When they are killed in canine form, they revert back to their human form. The Alpha Skinwalker was the very first skinwalker and, although not seen, he directs the actions of numerous packs of skinwalkers. Their main objective seems to be infiltrating families disguised as pets and then biting them at a signal in order to create more skinwalkers.

Powers and Abilities: Can transform into their canine alter ego at any time. Have a superior sense of smell, even in human form. Can infect others with a bite so that they become skinwalkers themselves.

Weaknesses: Silver - Piercing a skinwalker through the heart or head with silver will kill it.

Vampires

A vampire is created when a person ingests vampire blood, but the transformation is not complete until they feed on human blood. Once turned, they suffer from bloodlust and must feed on blood, human or animal, to survive. Unlike folkloric vampires, they do not require an invitation to enter a home and are not killed by sunlight. They also prefer to live in packs in locations called nests, and will mate for life. After death, vampire souls go to Purgatory. The Alpha Vampire was the very first vampire and has a psychic connection with other vampires. By the year 2006, vampires had been hunted so intensively and become so rare that John Winchester had thought they were extinct. But in the year 2010, the Alpha Vampire uses his psychic connection to encourage vampires to focus on increasing their numbers. Dean kills all the vampires he finds in one nest, but it is unknown how many other nests may have been created or increased their numbers. A vampire must feed on blood to survive - preferably human blood although they can subsist on animal blood. Some vampires, such as those led by Sheriff Len Cuse, also devour organs and flesh, as part of a new age philosphy related to not wasting any part of the kill. A cure for vampirism exists, but only if the vampire has not yet drunk human blood. They need to drink a mixture that includes the blood of the vampire that turned them.

Powers and Abilities: Have extremely enhanced senses that include being able to smell humans and vampires over long distances, and the ability to see in pitch darkness. Can exhibit an eyeshine like effect. Have sharp, pointed, retractable teeth that emerge from their gums and extend beyond their human teeth. Are immortal and unchanging. Can infect others by feeding them their blood so that they turn into vampires themselves. If they have enough human blood, they can heal quickly from any wound besides amputation.

Weaknesses: Sunlight - It's not deadly, but can cause a nasty sunburn. Vampires prefer to sleep during the day. Dead man's blood - Large quantities can paralyze a vampire and cause wounds that are slow to heal. Decapitation - Cutting off the head of a vampire will kill it. Angelic powers - Angels can burn vampires from the inside out with a touch, killing them. The Colt - A special bullet fired from the Colt can kill a vampire. Burning saffron, skunk's cabbage and trillium blocks a vampires scent. John Winchester gives these to Dean to put on the fire. He also tells Dean to dust their clothes with the ashes to stand a chance of not being detected. Vamptonite - The blood of humans which has been poisoned by the Leviathan food additive is fatal to any vampire who ingests it. Called vamptonite by Dean, this is also effective if the blood is injected directly from a syringe.

Vetala

Vetalas are creatures that sedate their victims with venom and then feed on their blood over a number of days. The victim usually dies after three or four feedings. Vetalas prefer to hunt in pairs, although John Winchester hunted a single vetala and documented it in his journal. Dean hunted a pair of them on his own, while Sam was at Stanford.

Powers and Abilities: Have razor sharp teeth. Produce a venom that sedates its victims. Are very strong.

Weaknesses: Can be killed with a silver knife to the heart.

War

War is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, along with Famine, Pestilence and Death. He wears a pure gold ring, which is unique amongst the three rings belonging to his brothers as it lacks a gemstone. His ring along with Famine, Pestilence and Death's form together as a key to Lucifer's Cage, his ring, while connected with the other three rings, is merged in the direct center of the Cage's key. When War arrived on Earth; he used his ring's power to make himself look like a man named Roger. In other words, War made Ellen, Jo, Dean and Sam perceive him as a human by altering their perception. War is the first Horseman to appear in the series. He turns an entire town against themselves by making them think there are demons when there are none. War claims that Famine, Pestilence and Death are his siblings. He is also known as Wormwood.

Wendigo

A creature that was once human but was transformed into an immortal evil spirit when it took up the practice of cannibalism. Wendigos are cursed to wander the land, eternally seeking to fulfill their voracious appetite for human flesh. Wendigos are believed to live in the northern woods of Minnesota and in the north central regions of Canada . Kenora, Ontario, Canada, has been given the title of Wendigo Capital of the World by many. Sightings of the creature in this area have continued well into the new millennium. Wendigos are generally rumored to be gigantic spirits, over fifteen feet tall, lanky and with glowing eyes, long yellowed fangs, terrible claws and overly long tongues. Sometimes they are said to have a sallow, yellowish skin; other times they are described as being matted with hair. The Wendigo's full powers have never been recorded. The creature excels at stealth and is a near-perfect hunter, knowing and using every inch of its territory – caves, hills, trees and bushes. Some stories posit that Wendigos can control the weather through the use of dark magic.

Werewolves

Werewolves are humans that transform into wolf-like creatures under the influence of a full moon. They can either be born as werewolves to werewolf parents, or become a werewolf as a result of being bitten (known as a "bitten"). Pureblood werewolves also prefer to use the term lycanthrope. John's Journal records that werewolves within four generations of a pureblood werewolf are "less feral and can transform before, during and after the lunar cycle." John noted that pureblood werewolves can control themselves and can survive on animal hearts. When they are in wolf-form, they appear human except for their yellow eyes, fangs, and claws, and they use their superior abilities and enhanced senses to hunt humans and eat their hearts. They may not remember transforming or any of the details of what they've done as a werewolf once they return to human form, but it seems that whatever subconscious desires or fears they feel as human translate into action when they are werewolves. The only confirmed way to kill a werewolf is by piercing its heart with silver. An entry in John Winchester's journal posited that a werewolf could be cured of lycanthropy by killing the werewolf who infected him or her, but this is disproved by Sam and Dean, and the fallacy of the theory is in fact well known by other hunters, such as Bobby. When they are killed in werewolf form, they revert back to their human form. After the Apocalypse is averted, it seems that werewolves no longer transform only during the full moon, as Samuel mentions that werewolves have been appearing during half-moons. Crowley reveals that there is an Alpha Werewolf, but as of the year 2010 he has not been located. Werewolves may live solitary lives or live in a pack, and can survive eating animal organs, however it is extremely difficult, especially if they have fed on human hearts before. At least one pack was shown to be involved in the Maw of Fenris, a cult which believed in the superiority of werewolves and extinction of humans. Their beliefs are based on the Norse legends that Fenris (the wolf son of Loki) would kill Odin during the end times known as Ragnarök. This pack believed in this for generations until Reverend Jim Myers took over and turned the pack from violence. However, the reverend's wife and three other members of the pack still believed in this and strove to achieve it before being killed by Dean.

Powers and Abilities: Have superior strength and agility. Have elongated, sharp fangs and claws. Have enhanced sight and smell. Can infect others with a bite so that they turn into werewolves themselves at the next full moon.

Wraith

Wraiths are humanoid creatures whose true nature - including their sagging, decaying flesh - can be seen only in reflection. They appear human except for the long, organic spike that they sheathe in their wrist and use to feed on their victims.

Powers and Abilities: Can alter the perceptions of any person they touch, making them hallucinate or unbalancing them emotionally. Can feed on a person's brains through an organic spike that extends from their wrist.

Weaknesses: Silver - Piercing a wraith through the heart with silver will kill it. Silver also burns them when it touches the skin.Mirrors - A wraith's true form is revealed in a mirror.

Zombie

Zombies in Supernatural come in a variety of forms. They may be raised from the dead the use of spells and necromancy, by the demonic power of Samhain, and even raised by Death himself. Another group of beings that behave in a zombie-like manner are humans infected by the demonically engineered Croatoan virus, and those affected by the leviathan food-additive. When first raised, their memories and personalities may be intact, and they can behave like normal, rational beings for several days before becoming violent and cannibalistic. Methods of dispatch generally involve beheading, staking, or fire. Depending on the zombie, Sam and Dean appear to have varying success with each method.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman strength. Superhuman speed. Regeneration. Impervious to harm. Can cause the death of surrounding plant life.

Weaknesses: Decapitation. Head shot. Being staked inside a coffin with silver. Complete obliteration of the body.
